Jim, What happened to your busy murder trial schedule and wine fast to kick off the New Year. Vietnam, Thailand, San Fran and now South Beach. Sounds more like retirement to me. Good for you and say hello to Stuart and Kathy for us. Drink well.

Ha ha my murder trial starts February 10th and will last for the rest of the month of February. I'm here on a working vacation on a balcony by the beach, I'll be dining with Stuart and Kathy on Wednesday evening. Life is good!

Ha it seems balmy down here compared to what is going on up in the northeast.
Working on my upcoming murder case, but at a relaxing pace.
Maybe you guys can join us BP!

Thanks for the invite Jim, but we have plans for Wednesday night. We’ve been meeting up with a bunch of friends. Can’t believe how many people we know that either moved down here or are snowbirding like us. So glad we aren’t home for that blizzard. I hate snow!

Re: BWE has landed in Fort Lauderdale....
Sorry you couldn't join us last night, Brian, we experienced more legendary South Florida hospitality at Maass restaurant in Fort Lauderdale with the 2015 Dom Perignon, 2015 Roederer Cristal, 1990 Chateau Montrose, 1990 Chateau Leoville Las Cases, 1990 Chateau Margaux, 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, and a half bottle of 1990 Chateau d'Yquem.
The wines were all in stunning form, both Champagnes open for business, the Dom more elegant than the richer and more full bodied Cristal. The reds had been opened and decanted earlier and they really benefitted, the 1990 Montrose just incredibly expressive on the nose, my bouquet of the night, it was just smoking. The 1990 LLC was also open but a bit tighter but in that hurts-so-good LLC way. The 1990 Margaux and 1990 Lafite were absolutely stunning, both 100 point wines, both still youthful but thrilling. Of all the 1990 d'Yquems I've ever had, this one last night was the best. Pure perfection, lightly chilled, gorgeous color just at the beginning of turning caramel. I've always rated this last among the 1986, 1988, 1989, and 1990 d'Yquems but this may have been the best bottle I've experienced from that glorious stretch of wines.
The food and service were A++, very worthy of their one star Michelin rating. Pricing was very reasonable, especially on Wednesday nights when there is no corkage fee. And of course the company at the table was the highlight of the evening. Thank you again Stuart and Kathy and everyone else for your legendary hospitality! Life is good!

I thought we were drinking well last weekend
. Stuart always knows how to up the game - incredible generosity.
It doesn't surprise me at all that 1990s are at their peak right now. And great to hear a great note on the 1990 d'Yquem - the last few times I've had it each has been less impressive than the one before. I have one more bottle - maybe it will be the best?

I agree, Ed, the 1990 d’Yquem has never wowed me. Last night was an ah-ha experience though.

I guess I should have told my friends to pound sand and go to this dinner instead. They served me Fetzer Chenin!

Looks like it was a lovely dinner with Stu and Kathy as always. The 1990 Yquem always needs a lot of air for me to strut its stuff so I often pour my pour then go back to reds for a bit. That's what I did the last two times we had it that must not have wowed you? The last DC dinner with and Stu's Saturday night last year
