I've had my eye on this puppy for awhile, in the mood for a Pauillac before heading off on my next trip....
The purple Pauillac coloring looks very youthful and vibrant. Not sure I've ever had this wine before, what is the story? Is it related to Pichon Baron?

In a sense, Jim. It is managed by Baron. But AXA is the owner. Isn't it a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel? I would expect that to be displayed on the label, but I don't see it on the picture you posted.

Oh, I see that Jeff Leve has a nice description of the estate:

This wine was a revelation. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Still youthful but a robust, very Pauillac wine. For some reason I was expecting not a lot of complexity but this was the real deal. The color was stunning. It was a baby Pichon Baron. Loved it. 93+ points.

Nice note Jim. That 2010 Château Pibran demonstrated that great red Bordeaux exist, out of Crus Classés.
Château Fonbadet is another safe bet in Pauillac.
