Many of us consider the first BWE convention in Chicago in February 2001 to be the seminal moment in the history of BWE.
It was the occasion when a group of BWEers from across the U.S. and Canada met for the first time in a central location for wine, food and friendship, and the tradition has carried on ever since.
At Chicago '01, the legendary Stefan brought two bottles of 1986 Gruaud Larose. We drank one of the bottles. Now Stefan is bringing the other bottle to Chicago '10 in March-- a holy relic of that epic weekend-- for ceremonial consumption by BWEers in celebration of the ten-year anniversary of BWE.
The pours will be small, but what will matter most is that everyone partake of this holy relic in ceremonial celebration of the history of BWE and that historic weekend eons ago!

Hi Gail, looking forward to seeing you guys in Chi Town for this historic event!
The idea of gathering for an annual convention was Ben Nelson's, I wonder if he'll be joining us in Chicago for the ten year anniversary???

Gail, you must be in Public Relations
Ths first thing that went through my mind was "this is grape juice - not grape Kool-Aid, right". But maybe it's just me.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great way to toast the occasion, but to an out-sider this could seem a little ....Jim Jones-ish.

Indeed, Andy, many people don't understand the irreverence of BWE. People used to laugh at themselves here before it became all gross and Squiresy...
