I need a vacation! Tonight, I'm going to uncork a Burg....

Burg = vacation from Bordeaux.

I was thinking about a Burg but since I haven't had any wine in six days I thought I'd have a Bordeaux.

I'm going with the 2005 Grand Pontet....

Wow the deep rich midnight purple color of the Grand Pontet is immediately striking....

Just got home from the pharmacy at 8pm and was determined to start tasting/drinking wine Saturday late afternoon. But your Burgundy
post changed my thinking-hence I am working on a red myself. You are among the greatest of men, and just think how much more fun
you have had on the rack than in a closed case. I am expecting notes on the Burgundy within the next few days as well as all other forum

I'm polishing off a '96 Monbousquet that I opened last night. Started off lush, plush and a bit modern. Tonight it's showing some nice aged Bordeaux complexity mixed in with the ripe fruit. I think this will be even better in a couple of more years.

Sigh, yeah it's a very tough case, David, she is indeed a very vulnerable 19 year old kid, and her whole life is in my hands. It's as tough as it gets in criminal defense. Very emotional.

As I read this thread there's a piece on the CBC news about a woman in England accused of killing her two infants! The reporter says they suspect postpartum depression. The mother is completely calm as she is arrested, the father in a state of bewildered panic! Good luck with your case, Jim. I don't know how you do it.

I'm sure that, obviously, the woman in England was suffering from some level of mental illness. How else would she have killed her own children? I'm sure the general public doesn't agree with that, though, because society is mentally ill.

The 2005 Grand Pontet I'll give 90 points, because it is a "well made wine." However, it has no character. It is a classic parkerized, internationalized, California-ized wine. I have no idea how long it will last.

The neighbors that the press interviewed seemed sympathetic and understanding; no one seemed out for blood.

I am currently vacationing in Burgundy, staying with friends in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

I've been visiting domaines for the past few days and will go back home with about 3 cases of wine.
The medium-high-end stuff is more reasonable than in Bordeaux, and many of these wines will be enjoyable sooner than "comparable" Bordeaux.
My friends are Burgundy fanatics, so I'm taking some ribbing, but I get my own back at them .

I've visited mostly estates that are not household names, though I will post my notes on Mugnier soon.

I'm off to see young American winemaker Ray Walker in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

I met the Reverend Ray Walker in London a couple of weeks ago.
I think he will be very prophetable because what he has achieved is remarkable.
I well and truly got religion.
