Took this out to a new local restaurant to celebrate Valentine's and a somewhat belated 25th. The '89 Franc-Mayne delivered in spades and was every bit as good as the hype. Really nice perfumed nose with hints of band-aid and cherry preserves. On the palate, there was incredibly bottle-sweet fruit and a remarkable smoothness from the melted tannins. A very fine and long finish puts this in the 'special' column.

I don't think I've ever had any of this estate, although lots of Grand Mayne have crossed our table. Congrats on 25 years.

I've thought of buying a couple of more recent vintages but have been deterred by notes telling of an over the top wine.
