TN 2000 Ch. Les Ormes de Pez, St. Estephe
In fine form. The last (I believe) of perhaps four. For about ten years from vintage this wine just was pretty stern and backward. A bottle I had maybe two years ago rewarded my patience and this last one was really good. A lot of salt air in the bouquet and a lot of dark flavors (brine, charcoal, anise/licorice, au jus) in the bottle, with melt in your mouth finish. Decent acidity. Plenty of body with a luxe feel and this did good service before, during and after dinner.

Nice. Isn't this made by the J-M Cazes complex?

I think you're correct.

Thanks for the report, sound like a delicious Saint-Estèphe.
Sadly, Don't have too much 2000 left, but I still have some Léoville Poyferré and Pape Clément.
The 2000 Chateau Duhart Milon was great in the past.

Art, you are right. I opened my last bottle of 2000 LOdP about a year ago and wrote "plenty of clay on the nose and a deep core of cherry". The previous bottles were so angry and shut and oaky that they were undrinkable.
