2016 Lalande-Borie has been uncorked....

This is a deep ruby color, distinctively St. Julien on the nose.

I had a couple of the 2011, in 2016 and 2018. They were nice but nothing special.

I like the fact that this wine is not overdone but it is not anything special.
It is a nice very basic St. Julien.
The question, of course, is at what price this wine becomes worth it.
At $31 on sale in NH, I guess, that is about fair, but I don't think I'll buy any more beyond the lone remaining bottle in my cellar.
13.5% alc.
88 points.

I paid $26.50 each for my '11s, back in 2016.
From the same store right now I can get 2014s for $35 plus shipping, 2015s for $32 + shipping, and 2016s for $41 plus shipping.
The critics rate the 2016 higher than the two previous vintages. On CT there isn't a big difference in average score but the '16 comes out a bit ahead and the '15 is the lowest at 89.7.
Looks to me like the 2015 represents the best value. Buying 2 cases gets the bottle price down to $28.74.

Over the years I have purchased the 03, 05 , 08, 09 , and the 14, all EP. Prices for these were for years near $20.00. I always felt that it was an affordable and reliable producer. Not a fleshy wine, just pleasant. Prices near $40, my interest goes down.

Yeah Spike it was a nice, oaky, rugged St. Julien, went nicely with chicken and salad.
$31 is the upper end of what I would pay for it going forward.

This is one of those wines I had early in my wine career, didn’t much like, and decided never to pay attention to again. Cleric Milon was another

Funny thing is I've never had Lalande-Borie but it will forever be etched in my mind. Back when the 2000's were released I went to buy 3 bottles of Grand-Puy Lacoste for around $35 a bottle in NH. When I went to the register the clerk said it was a total of $53.97. I told him there must be some kind of mistake since the GPL was higher than $17.99 a bottle. He seemed very irritated with me over questioning the price. I took the code over to the shelf and discovered that it matched up with the Lalande-Borie, $17.99. I pointed this out to the clerk and by now he's really pissed that I'm questioning him and insists that my bottles are $17.99. I said fine and went back and grabbed the remaining 7 bottles of GPL.

I was at my grocery story today for one of our once a week reloading of the pantry/fridge, and there were stacks of 2016 Phelan Segur...for $85 per.

I went through a half-case of 2009 Lalande Boris. It was good in a decent QPR sort of way but not enticing enough to buy more.
