A cynic might say that this is just a Trump ploy to take profits when the market is high, then declare tariffs to create a buying opportunity, let phase one kick in (midnight tonight) to show you mean it, then cancel phase two before it takes effect April 9, all in order to make a quick buck on the rebound. A flip of the old pump and dump: a dump and pump. Oh, and get everyone to praise him for being tough but seeing the light and listening to reason in the end. It sounds typically Trumpy to me.
I’m pretty cynical, but I’m not brave enough to put my money where my mouth is. We’ll see what transpires next week.
Any guesses on when the next gyration will occur? Today? A week? A month?
