Drinking alcohol for only the second time so far in 2012.
Nice youthful Jadot bouquet.

Very nice, youthful but smooth tannins. Beautiful black cherry color. But then again, when does this wine ever disappoint? I wonder how prices are for 2010 Burgundies? Sounds like a vintage to stock up on? This 2009, at $47, represented a significant price increase from the 2005 and 2008, which I think I got in the $35ish range.

I wonder how long a wine like this can age? I'll bet it can hold its own for 30 years.

This 2009 Jadot Clos des Ursules seems more svelte than the mouth-pickering 2005. This is a huge step up from the 20009 Jadot 1er Cru.

I've had a handful of bottles from Ursules in the past, and it's one of the most reliable and reasonably priced Burgs out there with the capacity to age spectacularly well. One of my more memorable bottles last year was a jeroboam of the 1952 Jadot Clos des Ursules, which was still incredibly fresh and an outstanding drink.

I am completely not surprised by that statement, salilb, you can just tell these wines are structured to age well.

Thanks Jim, I am looking at the 2009s and I always find Jadot a solid wine for a reasonable price.

Indeed, Bill, these Jadots are consistently very lovely representatives of Burgundy. Hopefully they can maintain their pricing at approachable levels.

All the Jadot Domaine 1er Cru Beaune wines are consistently good, but Clos des Ursules is the best, IMO. I would not drink the '09 now, however.
Jim, I am also drinking wine for only the second time in 2012. But for me that means that one day this year I drank no wine. That was one baaaad day.

You break a 6-week fast with a Burgundy? (Cue Jim Mora: Burgundy? Burgundy!?)
Seriously Jim, Examine Your Motives.

I'm going to be drinking some serious wines with fellow BWEers in NY next week, I need to break myself in slowly.

FWIW, I opened a bottle of the 2001 Ursules for my NY blind tasting group earlier this month. Was absolutely outstanding, and wowed a number of people.
Among Jadot's other 1ers, his Santenay Clos de Malte is also fantastic. (And of course, there are the big boy 1ers... 2008 Clos St. Jacques was a brilliant, brilliant wine with just incredible depth.)

The Jadot Clos des Ursules is usually an excellent, ageworthy wine. The 1999 Ursules showed very well next to some Grand Cru Burgs at a tasting in DC a couple years ago. Not bad for a $40 wine up against others that were North of $100. Also have had good luck with Jadot Santenay Clos de Malte (the 2005 was around $25).
