2010 Lafon Rochet uncorked in blizzard conditions....

Man we're getting hit hard up here in Maine, we're at 24 inches, headed towards 30.
Justification for consuming my first alcohol of 2015 after a 27 day fast.
This wine is a black beauty, with a deep licorice/tar/black-fruited bouquet.

I think it was Comte who liked this wine.
I think HWSRN found it inconsistent.
I think I may have gotten one of the inconsistent bottles.
It seems a bit thin to me. But I'll see if it evolves.

It has a great deep black/purple color and an impressive nose but doesn't seem to excite me too much on the palate.
I won't buy any more.

Sorry to hear your assessment. I thought that might be a 2010 I'd be willing to buy because of it's "reasonable" price. Hope the snow let's up soon. Sounds like you got all the leftovers that were not dumped on NYC.

Yuck, I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't consumed alcohol in a month, maybe I just got one of the bad bottles, but this wine is almost undrinkable. Thin, acidic, bitter. 69 points.

Ouch, seems like impossible. I really liked the 2009, and would expect the 2010 to be as good. Made by the Tesseron from Pontet Canet. Can that 2010 be very super shut down? 69 points, your low est rating ever Jim, and for a 2010 Médoc?

Wow...That's a surprise for me...I really liked 10 version of LR two times I tried...Even if it's shut down, thin and bitter? No explanation from me other than an Ouch and a Wow...

I hear you. I would have thought this would have been an ultimate JimHow kind of wine.
The only thing I can think of is that I experienced the bottle variation of which HWSRN speaks in his 90+? rating.

Jim, I have had that happen to me where I had surgery and didn't drink wine for a month and when I had my first bottle it was too overwhelming. I like the analogy of not playing guitar for 6 months and then you need to get your callouses back to iron things out.

Sorry you had a bad experience with it BD..I do vaguely remember trying it along with quite a few other 2010s a few months ago...from memory it was good, but the two stand out wines from the commune are Calon Segur and Montrose.
On that day I tried 50-60 2010s - I had to go and lie down afterwards, not being an experienced tasters - and my take was that the two outstanding communes are St-Estephe and St Julien. I would have thought all the stars were aligned from a memorable Lafon Rochet in 2010.
