The overriding characteristic of this wine is its Lafite-like cedar.
It is structured, restrained, classy, 2002-like.
Medium bodied, ruby colored, lead pencil on the nose, a classic Pauillac.
If you like the big fleshy merlots from the right bank, well, they aren't mutually exclusive, I like the '14 Tour St. Christophe too. But this is more my style.
Very traditional. Let's check the alcohol... 13%. Of course. Just like they used to make 'em.
You've been forewarned: this is a JimHow kind of wine... But that is often not a style appreciated by a lot of others.
To me it is a classically styled Pauillac, dare I say it... Lafite-like.
The only question will be the price.
Gerry M says he can get it for like $58 at the Mass. Costco.
It is a few bucks more on sale in NH.
Love the 2002/2014 classicism of this wine, its Lafiteness.
Rating: 94+ points.

Re: 2014 Duhart Milon: A JimHow, Gerry M, New Eng. kind of wine.
Good to hear, Jim. I'll be on the lookout for it. 2014, in general, is a very good year for Bordeaux (both red and white) and the prices aren't too bad. Pichon Lalande (about $100) and Climens (about $70) are both outstanding. I'm also a fan of the 2012 wines from almost anywhere in France - probably not truly great but very good and approachable young.

Re: 2014 Duhart Milon
It is not a Latour, Mouton, Lynch, GPL type of Pauillac.
It is more Lafite, Cos in style.
Love it. The only question is can you get it for $60-ish or less.

I suspected you would like it. I looked it up on CT and saw Jeff's note that left me scratching my head a little.
"Tobacco, cedar, cassis and lead pencil on the nose. The medium bodied wine is fresh, lively, with a blend of black cherry and cassis with an energetic, spicy, lively finish. Give it at least 8 more years to come around. Plus, for some odd reason, there was a huge infestation of grape eating snails that loved eating the Cabernet Sauvignon, which has added more fatness to the wine. 92 "
I'm going to try and make it to Total W&S on Thursday since it's been quite a while since I've checked the place out. Hopefully I'll be able to grab some Duhart there for $58.

There's limited supply shown in the Shrewsbury store Gerry.
Otherwise you have to come to Manchester or Milford CT.

Thanks for the heads up Chris!Racer Chris wrote:There's limited supply shown in the Shrewsbury store Gerry.

I checked Shrewsbury and they only have 1 bottle left, hardly worth the trip there. It looks like I'll suck it up and go back to NH for a few. I'm sure I can come up with enough to fill out another case
