TN 2000 Poujeaux in a great place now
Drinking beautifully now. This is vital and expansive and perfectly balanced. Classic, penetrating bouquet with some cedar. The palate is elegant with firm and fine tannin, sort of lifted tannin, bright acidity and medium body. It's a little dry and sharp initially but softened, sweetened and expanded over a couple of hours and was smashing with a nicely charred rib eye. Can go for a while yet with this structure but is drinking like textbook mature claret now. I have three left of a case and while this was barely Howable on release I wished I'd held back more.

Nearby Chasse Spleen isn't too shabby either in this year

Not had the 00 Poujeaux that I recall, but I’ve always had a soft spot for this chateau. I checked to see if I have any, and I only have some 04, 05 and 09 in the cellar.

I thought the 2000 C-S was top-notch but I don't think I have any more. I have a couple of the 2003 left, which iirc is quite good.AKR wrote:Nearby Chasse Spleen isn't too shabby either in this year
