So what have you bought lately?
Re: So what have you bought lately?
The 2016 Chateau Argadens is surely a convincing everyday Bordeaux that most BWEers that like classical/traditionnal style, will appreciate.
Personnally, on par with Tour Saint Bonnet as best qpr of Bordeaux.

2015 Malartic Lagraviere Rouge (95.5 from me), 2015 Grand-Puy Lacoste (96), 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge (96) and 2016 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge (96.5). rthomaspaull

Re: So what have you bought lately?
To JimHow: I assume that the non-excellent choice is the 2015 Malartic Lagraviere, but I find I have been liking it more and more. Believe it or not, it now qualifies under my "system" as the lowest possible "first growth quality" in a fine year (Wine Advocate Vintage Rating 96 for Pessac-Leognan). Under the system (100 +96)/2 = 98 and 98-2.5 =95.5. rthomaspaull

To Chris F.: Many thanks for the info. 2016 GPL seems very popular with many wine critics, but "chacun a son gout". rthomaspaull

I'm a big fan of the 2014. I didn't try the '15 or the '16.

I've got a few of each of the 15 and 16 Malartic. May pop a 15 soon and see how it is, friends have said it is showing well now but should improve. Which of the two have you preferred?JimHow wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 8:36 pmI've really liked those 15 and 16 Malartics, as Chris says, I'm not a big GPL guy.To JimHow: I assume that the non-excellent choice is the 2015 Malartic Lagraviere, but I find I have been liking it more and more. Re: So what have you bought lately?
I picked up 6 2018 Jacques Carillon Puligny Villages for £246.60 in bond which was a 20% discount
The discount was sufficient to assuage my wariness of the 2018 white burgundy vintage

Good luck, I loved all three of the 2018 Jacques Carillon Puligny 1ers I've drank, hopefully the village will be great also.Comte Flaneur wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 3:36 pm I picked up 6 2018 Jacques Carillon Puligny Villages for £246.60 in bond which was a 20% discount

Re: So what have you bought lately?
I have bought very little in 2021 with very little on the horizon. I really think this time I have effectively hit the end, with 900+ in the cellar. When are they opening the border Nicola? I’ve got my vaccine appointment this week I’m excited!

Re: So what have you bought lately?
In recent months, I have been buying "smaller" wines that do not require a decade of cellaring to be enjoyable. Among recent case purchases:
2018 Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati
2018 Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo
2018 Louis Michel Chablis
2019 Picq Chablis
2018 D. Barraud St. Veran
2016 Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Les Charmes
2017 Ormanni Chianti Classico (reload)
2017 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva
2017 Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva (a second case for future enjoyment)
2018 Roco Pinot Noir Gravel Road
2016 Matrot Maranges Vieilles Vignes
I should be set for a while.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
The only wine purchase I have made since Feb. 16 is
6 2018 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Cuvée Louise @ $110 + shipping + sales tax.
This was an automatic purchase because of my D.D. wine club classification. My classification gives me maximum discount on all purchases, which improves the QPR rating of the Louise to Really Bad.
Jon, I usually buy my smaller wines locally, but I have not been in a store for over a year. I did get a 6 pack of the wonderful 2018 Louis Michel Chablis that I picked up in a nearby town. Other than that, the smaller wines we have been drinking are Oregon whites and Pinot Noir (such as Drouhin Arthur and Dundee Hills, for which I pay $32), and Chianti and Ridge Zins that I have had for a while.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
The following are certainly not left bank red Bordeaux, but lately I have been enjoying a reasonably priced Morgon Cote de Py, and my wife and I have had some 2018 Sancerres and similar Sauvignon Blancs. as well as low-priced but very enjoyable Chards with little or no oak. rthomaspaull
Re: So what have you bought lately?
3 bottles of the 1978 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge for $79/per
Re: So what have you bought lately?
3 bottles of the 1975 Sterling Reserve Cabernet
Re: So what have you bought lately?
Nice score on a my birth year btl and hopefully yours will be just as good as the one Dale brought to that offline at Sutton Inn a couple of years back.
Picked up 4 btls of 2006 d’Issan for $45/btl from Ben @ Cellaraiders in his most recent new cellar email.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
The 2006 Issan is a seriously good wine, and an incredible deal at $49.
I have been doing a final buy before bringing over all the wines that have languished in Europe during the tariff problems. Old vintages of DDC, Haut Bailly and especially Magdelaine.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
2018 Bibbi Graetz Casmatta. Vermentino, Trebbiano and Muscat Tuscan blend for $5.99 at Grocery Outlet. Dry and crisp with a moderately complex nose. My new house white. We get some of the Foley wines such as this here, probably from a local wholesaler.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Cross posted: I picked some Annonce De Belair-Monange 2x6 2016 in a sale on Tuesday.
I also picked up some 2010s: Pichon Lalande 2x3 at 2X£400ib (Jane Anson: 100 pts), and 6 x Mouton after I read an article by Ray Dalio to ‘buy stuff’ ... and don’t leave your money in cash or bonds...’cash is (still) trash’...a good enough excuse for me...

Encouraged by the suspension of tariffs, I bought four cases of assorted older Magdelaine, DDC and Haut Bailly.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
That is a crazy price.
I tried to buy a bottle of his 2016 Testamatta flagship last week.
Vendor cancelled the order and declined to ship it ... after a week of waiting.
They just opened up a GrossOut by my mom's house, in a shopping center that has been vacant for at least a decade, populated only by skateboarders and pigeons.

GO 20% off sale starts on April 7. Stick to real wineries, not the private label plonk which is 95% of the inventory.AKR wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 4:59 pmThat is a crazy price.
