An interesting ruby/purple color, a touch lighter than I expected, almost Burgundy-like.

Thank you again to all BWEers young and old for your response to the BD challenge, we've seen some great wines pulled out so far during the "March Is BWE Month" celebration.

The first half of my month was busy, we had another couple of bruising days of hearings last week in the Alaska case, this time taking on the head of DNA testing of the Alaska crime lab. We really went at it over the course of two days....

The rest of the month is a little less crowded with court action, but things are picking up again and we are hoping to resume jury trials in May for the first time since February 2020.

I'm drinking a mildly corked half bottle of 015 Ch. Haura, nursing a sore back injured moving wine.

The initially bashful bouquet on this feminine beauty is now evolving, Chris, I popped and poured, thought briefly about decanting but to heck with it.

The elegance is lovely but boy it really needs coaxing in the big Riedel sommelier glass.
Remind me to decant next time.
Earthy, Burgundian, on nose and palate.

With a small sirloin it is now opening up, in the second hour.
It really needed to be decanted a good 4 hours.
It is a very, very classy wine, but nuanced, you need to spend time with it.
It's almost like a Volnay or Pommard, plum, earthiness, very elegant, feminine.

Checking some reviews on line, my this has gotten pricey since I bought it.
Others note the Burgundy comparison, albeit Chambolle-Musigny.
Now the flowers are emerging, just in time, for la pie de la whoopee....

Not telling us what wine you’re drinking...

Calling it “Burgundian” when it’s actually Bordeaux...

That’s TWO STRIKES around here! You’re lucky you’re the BD!

I’m not convinced by just Pommard, Volnay, and C-M Jim...I’d like to see this wine compared to Gevrey, Morey, Beaune, Corton, Nuits St Georges, and especially Vosne-Romanee before I’m convinced it’s any good...

Now we are talking, this wine is completely opening up at the two hour mark into a 95 pointer.
It took a little while, but it is showing everything... elegance, complexity, violets and summer flowers on the nose.
Drinkability now and for 25+ years.

I do that all the time with weeknight wines but I keep open bottles overnight in my kitchen wine fridge. I'm inclined to decant anything special to get it off the sediment in a single pour, and return it to bottle for serving. A fully mature wine will go back in the bottle right away while something only a few years old will be out for a few hours.

This wine has evolved slowly, delicately, like a flower in a spring rain.
A really lovely wine. Very complex, but you have to spend some time with it to see the nuances.
If you popped and poured in some tasting or even a dinner out on town, you might miss it all.
What was very closed two hours ago has now blossomed, not in some big spectacular fireworks but subtly, elegantly.
This is a 13.5% wine.

We have to have at least 2-3 guesses before I reveal the wine, it is ok if you get it wrong, you can blame it on my usual poor descriptors, although the description of it as a "Marcs-kind-of-wine" and 13.5% alcohol, duh, should I just give you the answer....

That was just exploring the space of logical possibilities. If Jim had tormented the board to this degree about a non-Bordeaux it is he who should have been suspended. Thankfully he didn’t
