Red Bordeaux : what are your 3 favorite vintages
"I'm really looking forward to it as 83 has slowly become either my second or third favorite BDX vintage."

Inspired by that statement from Joel, what are your 3 favorite vintages for red Bordeaux? That can be an interesting topic, as many different generation of BWEers will have different answers...

Re: Red Bordeaux : what are your 3 favorite vintages
It is a tough question, and without thinking too much, and with my limited experience, I would go with :
1. 1982
2. 2005
3. 2016
Why? Simply because in these 3 vintages, the red wines are impressive all accross Bordeaux, at any level (little Bordeaux to GCC). Also, a great quality/complexity/homogeneity.
And my hypothesis is that in 10-20 years, 2016 should be first for me...

From our experience we've been blessed to share over the years some incredible wines and vintages. The most memorable not just because of age but consistent quality bringing out emotions and memories that last forever. The sentimental favourite happens to be my wife's birth year....
1. 59....three bottles of Ducru Beaucaillou on separate occasions were stunning first shared BWE France 2005 at Tour de By with Jean Guyon
2. 61
3. 82

Re: Red Bordeaux : what are your 3 favorite vintages
My problem is that I have consumed very few, or none, of my post-2005 Bordeaux.
With that in mind, I would have to say 1982, 1989 and 1990.

Although I have to say 2014 has to be the best pleasure vintage I have tasted from release to present day. Every wine from left to right bank has been wonderful.

This is for all time. But for drinking now, 1961 would probably fall to third place since most have faded. But the very few best are still glorious. Even a fair number of '82s are slipping

Mine are the same as Stuart's, and his comments are spot on. I considered vintages 1960-2004 as I have drunk too few wines from vintages before or after that period to include them.
