2008 Chateau d'Arcins; Haut-Médoc; Cru Bourgeois plum, coffee, dark fruits and hints of spicy new wood. Herbs, mint and some cool acidity. A very drinkable wine. Pleasant and will improve with age. Perhaps what one would call a solid Bordeaux. Hints of cedar and tobacco lingering underneath. Pencil lead, shavings. ****(*+?) or [3.5+4+4+4=15.5/20]
Another little quaffer from 2009 I just bought a couple of cases of is the Chateau de Marcard Bordeaux Superior for $10 per. Very pretty, with tobacco and coffee, very good balance, not a long ager, probably drinkable from now and for a couple of years A Spectator 90, if that means anything.
