- 1995 Château Pontet-Canet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (11/9/2013)
Tasted blind...this sucker is right in my wheel house....wafting aromas of leather and cigar ash, hints of bell pepper and asparagus...I declared bordeaux...though with such soft fruit I thought right bank initially...then soon the tobacco leaf and graphite took the stage...juicy cherries lifted by the acidity was a welcomed addition...once told (its left) I immediately went pauillac (all in)...I said clerc milon or d'armailhac....its pontet....a total treat..rockin juice 95 points (95 pts.)

Reported sighting of one of Orlando Bobbies....
Is 1995 the best of PC in the 90s? Wonder how 1994 and 1996 fare against 1995....Which order would you guys rate these?

Very good question, CV, that 95 is great.
I think I would rate the 96 and 95 about even, with the 94 close behind.

Was Pontet Canet better in the 1990s than the 2000s?
Quite possibly, no?

'95 is at peak...open now!
Re: TN: 1995 Château Pontet-Canet (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac)
I had the '96 a few years ago, a magnum of the '95 about 1.5 years ago and about four bottles of the 2000 over the last three to five years. Overall, I was underwhelmed by them all and none struck me as good buys (even though I got the '96 a BevMo for about $60, if you can believe it). The only Pontent Canet that did strike a chord with me was the '08, which I had about a year ago. It feels like it's only recently that the properly has been able to really dial things in and get great results (and the prices seem to show this too). I'm waiting on some '09, '10 and '11 and have high hopes for them.
