Four days until the uncorking of the 2010 Cantemerle....
I finally secured a bottle of this wine, a wine I have been anxious to try.
HWSRN rates it 94+ points and says it compares to their legendary 1949.
This property has garnered BWE Wine of the Year accolades in the past.
It is a property that seems to be a BWE kind of wine.
A traditional favorite of long time BWEers.
I will drink this wine, in the name of science, because I care for you crazy guys, I want to help you with your buying strategies.
I personally am trying to decide whether to purchase a case at $39.97 from PJs.
Depending on how my schedule goes this week, I will drink it either on Wednesday night or Thursday night.
And I will give you my report.

What do you predict, RG, is it going to be a JimHow kind of wine?

How long should I decant it (if at all)?

Alex, how far are Cantemerle, La Lagune, and Margaux from each other?
Re: Four days until the uncorking of the 2010 Cantemerle....
tLa Lagune and Cantemerle actually abut, Jim, with most of La Lagune's vineyards southeast of Cantemerle. The center of Margaux is northwest of Cantemerle, with Giscours and Dauzac being the closest Margaux Grand Cru Classe estates to Cantemerle.

La Lagune is down south with cantemerle around couple of miles north of it. If I remember correctly, Cantemerle is a big estate with beautiful trees all around. May be around 4 to 5 miles further north (rather northwest as doc noted) is Ch. Margaux...From Ch. Margaux to its south you can just see Ch d'Issan at a distance...JimHow wrote:Alex, how far are Cantemerle, La Lagune, and Margaux from each other?

as the owner of 6 bottles, I await judgement. If it was me, I would decant for a couple of hours and hold some for tasting the next day.
Re: Four days until the uncorking of the 2010 Cantemerle....
I would open and taste 6-8 hours before dinner. About two hours before dinner I would again taste and decant if I think right. Like Jay, I would try to hold some for the next day, but good wine goes quickly when Lucie is around.

At lunch, open two bottles. Begin drinking one immediately. Then have the second with dinner.

You know, I never really liked this estate. I never had the 2010, but previous vintages always seemed thin and astringent to me. Maybe even a little green. I'm curious to read your notes about this
Best

I might give it a try tonight, although I think I'm coming down with a cold or flu or something.
