BWE Website Wish List
BWE Website Wish List
I didn't see one of these yet so figured I'd start one (and I recognize that Phil and team are probably overwhelmed already, but I figure is always good to capture observations and put them onto the list).
Wish: can we put some type of icon on the browser tab? I notice that most websites have one, and its always nice to see something familiar instead of a document icon/avatar.
Cheers.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
OK, I'll play.
I don't think that I can visually tell if I have clicked on the most recent version of a thread. In the old system, the shade/color of the link was visibly different so that I knew I had already read the latest comment.
Any chance of doing something with that?
Jon

Re: BWE Website Wish List
The full wine glass to the left indicates whether you have unread messages, Jon, is that what you are inquiring about?
Re: BWE Website Wish List
In addition to the full wine glass, there is also a little red square just to the left of the title if a thread has new posts since you last read. If there are no new posts, the little square is not there and the wine glass is empty.
Another nice thing about this site is that it appears to track what you've read based on your log-in, not the computer you're using. I could never remember what I'd already read on the old site when I went from one computer to another.

David,
Thanks. I missed that indicator. It's just a matter of training my eyes to look for different clues.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
I agree that a chat function would be nice.
But then, I don't know how difficult this is to add.
Best regards,
Alex R.

Tim, yes a "favicon" that's a good idea. I'll see what I can come up with and maybe post some ideas here... I think maybe the wine glass icon could be good
Alex, yes this has been mentioned elsewhere and is planned to be set up a bit further down the line.
Re. the red icon, that takes you to the first unread post, while the white one (on the right) takes you to the last post.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
I wonder if we could disable the number of post counter. It seems eRobertPaker-esque to count your posts. Do others really think that this is important? Personally, I don't like the idea of comparing post counts.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
I'm not averse to it personally. I think it's interesting to see how busy people have been on the forum. I spose it depends on how much you value your post count.
Re. the favicon, this is now done. People may have to delete their browser cache (including history of sites visited in Internet Explorer 7, as I did) to see it.

Phil,
there's an excellent plug and play chat package that works with phpBB3 and uses the phpBB3 log-in and session data.
https://blueimp.net/ajax/
Upload directory. Run install.php. Delete install.php. Link from home page. Done.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
I would like to have a chat function for the VLT's.
Re: BWE Website Wish List
Joe, thanks. Actually that's what I used before when I set up a one-off chat. In which case that's excellent cos everyone found that easy to use and liked it.
I think I'd change the colour scheme to match though but that's great news.

Re: BWE Website Wish List
That chat room you set up for us for our last VLT worked very well, Phil, is that something we can make a permanent link here on BWE?

Sure, you can just add your own css file and you're set.PhilR wrote:Joe, thanks. Actually that's what I used before when I set up a one-off chat. In which case that's excellent cos everyone found that easy to use and liked it.
