1989 Bordeaux tasting - October 17
Re: 1989 Bordeaux tasting - October 17
Hmm,. the undercard could prove interesting. La La over the tough guys from St. Estephe, you say, Stefan? It may be a style thing, but are you sure you want to bet against that rough and ready duo from your namesake's village?

All
Just to recap please aim to get to the restaurant around 5.45pm. It is a couple of blocks to the east of GCT - about 5 mins by foot.

If you could bring cash it would be easier to settle the bill but it should not be a deal breaker
Also bring a writing implement. I have prepared a tasting sheet for notes, which has a questionnaire at the back asking you to nominate your favourite five wines in order, which is probably better than doing it via a hand count when every body is in various states in happinness! (I predict that Jim will be the only one with a hang dog expression!)
My predictions for flight winners:
1. Montrose
2. Tertre RB
3. Lafite
4. Ausone
5. LMHB
6. The Baron
7. A tie
Look forward to seeing you all

Tom, I have faith that BWE judges will appreciate the finesse of La La more than the clumsy brawniness of the fighters from the north.

With you all in spirit, feeling lots of remorse right now.
No doubt, ya'll have a blast!

Picked up the Lynch-Bages tonight and it is a finely honed young example. On the way home it was 'giving it large' about how it was going to cause an upset tomorrow and 'kick some derriere". When we arrived back there was almsot an ugly altercation with the LMHB and the Rothschilds had to stand between them as 'verbals' were exchanged.
Does anyone have a camera to bring along tomorrow?

Yes my iphone takes good pictures Ian, and I can upload pictures here on BWE right from the restaurant.

My train arrives in at 5.40, so I wont get there before 5.45. I have a couple of things to sort out at the restaurant, so if people roll in at 6pm that will be fine.

Just opened our bottles. This is the best smelling '89 Cos I have opened. The Ausone is, not unexpectedly, dumb right now. Not one of the better '89 La Lagunes right now, but Lucie's champion should be ready to go in a couple of hours.

I can't believe you'll be missing the Yankees game tonight, just to drink some stinking wine!

Actually, Patrick, as it turned out it was possible to still catch almost half of the game AFTER the tasting was over.
